This Privacy Policy describes the policies and procedures on the collection, use, and disclosure of information for users of the website (“Site”) https://aseasonofhomeschooling.com.
“User” or “Users” refers to the individual or individuals accessing or using the Site. This policy also tells Users about their privacy rights and how the law protects them.
By using the Site, Users agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this Privacy Policy.
What Information Is Collected
While using the Site, the User may be asked to provide certain personally identifiable information that can be used to contact or identify the User. This may include first and last names, and email addresses. The provision of this information is voluntary. This information may be generated in ways such as: when Users fill out a contact form, leave a comment, or subscribe to emails. When Users share personal information or otherwise interact on areas of the Site, such information may be viewed by other Users and may be publicly distributed by other Users. Information shared publicly may be indexed by search engines or used by third parties.
I only use personal information to provide and improve the Site, and to manage and respond to User requests. I only retain this information for as long as is reasonably necessary for this purpose.
Usage Data
This Site automatically collects Usage data. This is a common practice across the Internet. Usage data collected may include information such as the User’s device type and its unique ID and Internet Protocol address (IP address), which may determine the approximate location of a User’s device. Usage data may also include browser information, the referring site, the pages of the Site that are visited, the time and date of the visit, and other diagnostic data. The Site only retains usage data for internal analysis purposes or as the law requires.
When a User accesses the Site by or through a mobile device, certain information may be collected automatically. This includes, but is not limited to, the type of mobile device used by the User, the mobile device unique ID, the IP address of the mobile device, the mobile operating system, the type of mobile internet browser, unique device identifiers and other diagnostic data. The Site may also collect information that the User’s browser sends when the Site is accessed by or through a mobile device.
Google Analytics
This Site uses Google Analytics to improve the Site content. Google’s policy, which explains how the User’s information is used by Google, is available here: Google Policy. You can opt out of Google Analytics by installing Google’s opt-out browser add-on.
User Comments
Visitors to this Site can read published content and interact with the Site through features such as comments. An automated spam detection service checks User comments. When Users leave comments on the Site, the data is collected and shown in the comments form. The Site also collects the User’s IP address and browser User agent string in order to help spam detection.
An anonymized string created from the User’s email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if Users are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/.
After approval of the User’s comment, the User’s profile picture is visible to the public in the context of the User’s comment. The Site retains comments and its metadata indefinitely. This is so the Site can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.
Requests for Your Information
A request can be made to receive an exported file of the personal information being held about the User, including any data the User provided. Users can also request that any personal information held about the User be erased. This does not include data I am obliged to keep for legal purposes. This is a two-step process which requires that Users verify their email address. Please email requests to me at diana@aseasonofhomeschooling.com.
Shared Information
If Users interact with other Users through a third-party social media service, others on the third-party social media service may see the User’s name, profile, pictures and other shared information.
User’s personal information may be shared with a third part. This will only be to the extent necessary, and only with the User’s permission, in order to process User’s requests. For example, a third party will manage Site email subscriptions.
Third parties, including, but not limited to, Amazon and other advertisers, may collect information directly from visitors to the Site.
User’s personal information may be processed, transferred, and maintained on computers located outside of the User’s state, province, country or other governmental jurisdiction. Laws in these locations may differ from the laws of the User’s location.
The User’s consent to this Privacy Policy followed by submission of such information, represents the User’s agreement to that transfer.
This Site uses security practices that are standard across the Internet. The security of User’s personal information is important to me. I will never sell, trade or rent User’s personal information. Please note that no method of transmission over the Internet, or method of electronic storage is completely safe. I strive to use appropriate means to protect User’s personal information, but I cannot guarantee this protection.
I may disclose Site visitor information in response to a subpoena, court order, or other government request. Site visitor information may also be disclosed when I believe in good faith that disclosure is reasonably necessary to protect the property or rights of myself, my Users, third parties, or the public at large. For example, if I believe that there is imminent danger of death or serious physical injury, I may disclose information related to the emergency without delay.
Cookies
I use “cookies” to enhance the User’s browsing experience, serve personalized ads or content, and analyze traffic. These cookies are small files. They are placed on a User’s computer, mobile device or any other device, by the Site. The cookies contain the details of the User’s browsing history on the Site. The User’s browser provides this to the Site each time the visitor returns.
If Users leave a comment on the Site, there is an option to allow the Site to save the User’s name, email address, and website in cookies. These are for the User’s convenience. Then details do not have to be filled in again when Users leave another comment.
Cookies are widely used to “remember” the User and the User’s preferences. This may be for either a single visit (through a “session cookie”), or for multiple repeat visits (using a “persistent cookie”). They ensure a consistent and efficient experience for visitors, and perform essential functions such as allowing visitors to register and remain logged in.
This Site, and third parties, including but not limited to, analytics providers, the Site host provider, Amazon, and other advertisers, may place or recognize cookies on the browsers of visitors to the Site. The cookies collect information about visitor’s use of a Site and across other websites and online services. This information may include a visitor’s IP address, web browser, mobile network information, pages viewed, time spent on pages, links clicked, and conversion information. This information may be used by those companies to, among other things, analyze and track data, determine the popularity of certain content, and deliver advertisements that may be more targeted to visitor interests.
Other Technologies
Pixel tags (also called web beacons) are small blocks of code placed on this Site. These are placed by me, or by third parties such as, but not limited to, analytics providers, the Site host provider, Amazon, and other advertisers. Cookies and other technologies like pixel tags are used to help identify and track visitors and Site usage. They are also used to deliver targeted ads (when ads are enabled on this Site). These technologies provide statistics for me or for third parties, for similar purposes as cookies. They are often used in conjunction with cookies, though they are not stored on the User’s computer in the same way. As a result, if the User disables cookies, web beacons may still load, but their functionality will be restricted.
Opting-Out
For more information on interest-based ads, including information about how visitors may be able to opt-out of having their web browsing information used for behavioral advertising purposes, please visit aboutads.info/choices (US based) and youronlinechoices.eu (EU based).
Some cookies are required and necessary for Users to use the Site fully. Some cookies are used for analytics and performance. Other cookies are used for advertising. When the cookie banner is displayed on this Site, Users can instruct their browser on cookie usage. They may accept all cookies, reject all cookies, or customize their cookie consent. Users may customize their consent and reject analytics, performance, and/or advertising cookies. Users may also do this by clicking on the CookieYes consent preferences icon. This icon is displayed in the corner of all pages of the Site. If Users disable cookies, they should be aware that some features of the Site may not function properly.

Embedded Content and Links to Other Websites
Posts on the Site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.) from other websites. Third parties, including but not limited to, Amazon and other advertisers, may serve content and advertisements on the Site. This content functions in the same way as if the User has visited the other websites. These other websites may collect data about Users on the Site. Amazon and other websites may use cookies and third-party tracking, and monitor User interaction with the embedded content on the Site.
The Site contains links to other websites that are not operated by me. If a User clicks on a third-party link, the User will be directed to that third-party’s website. I encourage the User to review the Privacy Policy of those websites. I assume no responsibility for the content, privacy policies, or practices of any third-party websites or services.
Media
If Users upload images to the Site, they should avoid using images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. This is because visitors to the Site can download and extract location data from images on the Site.
